Update 2013

Well, as you can see it has been a very long time since anyone has written on the Holgate Family blog. So I will attempt to do a little up-dating but a long time has passed so this will be interesting.
From the top down...Jim is the head of our home and still working at Reliance Medical Group and he works hard and golfs when he can get the time and takes care of me and our 3 girls, bonds with one son in law and is the love of my life!
I am just busy working on cakes still and still loving what I do! I have been on live radio that was fun talking with Scott Michlin about cake.   I'm the ICES (International Cake Exploration Societe`)State Rep for NM.
I have been doing cakes now for about 15 years give or take a little depending on if i count doing it for money vs friends and family.  I still teach cake decorating and I'm looking forward to teaching (I hope) in the fall back east. I love my girls very much and have a hard time waiting for them to come home.  I still have my puppy Jewels who is an angel and our cat Momma Kitty who at this moment sheds and drives me nuts!
Lisette and Robert are in Price UT with their 2 dogs and a cat.  They are working hard and have a cute home they are slowly restoring one room at a time. We love our grandpets!
Aubry is working hard and loving life in Queen Creek AZ.She works at Metro Fire Equipment and sometimes does Massage therapy on the side. We are hoping she will not be single much longer and I know when she reads this she might delete it because she set this up and knows the password!! but we love her!
Stevie is almost done with her 2nd year of college!! I know right! blows me away! this momma can't handle stuff like that! She is living with Aubry in Queen Creek and is attending Chandler-Gilbert Community College and majoring in Early Childhood...I try not to say anything because that is what I have my Associates in and I don't want her to change her mind! lol I'm so proud of her!
Well life is busy and we are happy and trying to do what is right.  Keeping ourselves close to the Lord is all that matters because when we do the blessings flow!
My new motto comes from the Duke himself   "Life is hard, It's ever harder if your stupid".
Stay smart my friends!

**** UPDATE!

WELL.. Since my MOTHER is too busy being Mrs. Cake Lady. I (Aubry) decided to update our family blog. Pictures are soon to come because everyone is obviously sooo behind in our overly exciting lives. HA jk so anyways starting with
My mom
She has recently done an interview for Majestic Living Magazine, talking about her cake skills and overcoming the trial of the loss of her legs. (Maybe if she's good we'll stop hiding them from her and give them back.. HA) Also her award winning Oklahoma Sugar Art Show cakes was featured in CAKE CENTRAL magazine, and as anyone in the Cake world Knows... THAT'S A BIG DEAL! So along with all her cake stuff she has also received a calling in YW. (IDK what it is exactly so I'm just not gonna say for fear of saying the wrong thing.) From what she ahs told me she really seems to enjoy it! She also still teaches her cake or chocolate class on Tuesdays. And her favorite day of the week is Costa Vida Friday, where she gets to sit and chat with her friends for HOURS. I prefer to call it her weekly group therapy. She and I(Aubry) talk for an hour almost EVERYDAY. that's right folks if there was ever a question about who the favorite daughter is the mystery is solved.. (pst.. its me) not only do we talk for an hour, but it is also ME calling to talk to HER! :) yeah I'm golden, be jealous. So yes that is an update on my mommy!
DADDY!
Well Daddy is daddy. He is working as hard as ever at Reliance making sure everything goes smooth and easy. He is the best dad in the world. All my sisters and I agree. It's Unanimous.

SETTY and ROB!
WOB GOT A YOB!!!! (rob got a job) He and Setty recently moved to wellington Utah (robs hometown) He got a job at a Furniture/Sporting goods Store (hope thats right) So anyways from what he said last night is that he likes it pretty good, and its even better not working outside! YAY for ROB! also.. SETTY GOT A YOB TOO!!!!! thats right folks a job. I helped her with her resume and such and she had 2 interviews, one at payless, then one at Maurice's, long story short she got the SUPERVISOR job at Maurice's!!! YAY! and its NOT FAST FOOD! :) though no one could doubt that she could make the best sandwiches or blizzards EVER!! :) I am soo happy for them they have been living with robs parents for about a month and are looking for houses/apartments right now and GUESS WHAT ELSE!! THEY ARE TRYING TO HAVE A BABY!!! yes its our dream come true!! :) all of us simply can't wait! :)
ME... Welp basically if you want a FULL update on my life you can catch me at my blog which our family follows! :) so but a lil blip, I work at Regus Co. as a Client Service Representative and LOOOVE IT! hah its weird but i really do enjoy it fully! :) I got my massage therapy license in December but sadly haven't done much with that I'm gonna start working on it as soon as my life slows down a bit. I am going to be tarveling and doing things almost every weekend until the end of march but basically all the way until the end of June I have fun random lil trips planned! YAY for being Young and Fun!
Stevie:::::: STEVIE is a SENIOR! HOLY MOLY! I never thought this day would come! jk she is a superstar! she graduates in May! She is still a crazy lil Dancer and she works at a tanning salon... (One Contradiction Eating Another) Can't wait to see where she will end up for school! she is gonna do big things! :)
So yeah that's a lil update on our family. I will be officially taking over the Blog Since my mom is too busy and I don't have enough to do at work! :)
Love
The Holgates.

It worked!!! now I'm excited to be able to do this on my own! so...where to begin??
Everyone has seen the pictures of me and my legs so i will start there. They are great and i love them. It's a lot of hard work learning to walk again when you are 46 yrs. old, but I'm so glad i have them. Most people ask how it feels? Well it hurts some because of the pressure i put on my knees. You see I don't really walk on my little nubs, there are two bones below the knee that all your weight rests on and that is what i mean by pressure being on my knees. I have to use a lot of hip muscle to get my legs to move but once i get going its OK. I have my knees and i just have to remember to bend them when i walk and when i step up or down. I used to feel like Frankenstein but the more i practice the better i get. I go to physical therapy twice a week and they really help me with weight lifting and balance and of course walking. As of this writing I'm up to about 7 minutes on the treadmill. Now this may not seem like much, but you try walking on your knees around your house for 7 min and you find rather quickly it takes a lot of work using muscles you forgot about. So for me it's using a lot of hip and back and core muscles to get me going. We are working on stamina or prolonged walking. Usually i will walk to the car and sit, walk into church or a Dr. office and sit...walk and sit, that is great but i need to be able to walk and stand for long periods of time just like i use to so....i walk on the treadmill and i try to Ware my legs more and more.
Now for my hands...I had surgery on my right hand Dec. 17 and will have my left hand done on Thursday the 14th of January. It's not so much to fix my hands but to keep them from getting worse. The nerve damage caused by the Sepsis(sp) will probably never be fixed but i will take what i can get as far as my hands are concerned. I'm still able to squeeze a pastry bag and frost my cakes and roll out fondant and make my gum paste flowers and so i feel very blessed to have hands that are not quite perfect but they work just fine for me. Hey i still have them and that is a blessing.
Now for a kid update...Stevie is dancing for her high school dance team as a junior this year and is having tons of fun with her friends. Of course it's basketball season and she is working really hard to make every dance. See they have to tryout for a dance each week and that means learning a new dance every week and trying out and then preforming. She has a goal of making every dance and so far she is doing great and hasn't missed one. She is also working hard for the State Dance competition in April.
Aubry just finished her first day of school for a degree in Massage Therapy and we are hoping she does well in this new endeavor. She is living apart from her cute kitty Squirrel and he misses her. His nap time is spent on her bed and play time is spent hanging on our cat momma kitty or hanging on my living room curtains!!! She is living in Mesa A.Z. with Kim and Daren. She told me her dream is to work on the Disney Cruise line. You go girl we need a discount!!!
Lisette and her husband Robert are living in Cedar City U.T. while Lisette is going to school to earn a fine arts degree at SUU. Robert who has a fine arts degree is working construction so our Setty can go to school and so he can find a graduate school to go to. Anyone know of one here in Farmington??? They have a kitty named Slick. My first grand kitty. Yep you heard right a kitty not a grand child!! I hint and hint to them but someone must have super glued their ears closed because there are no grandchildren is site for this President of the "Wanna Be A Grandma Club".
Jim is my hero, he works so hard for our family. What can i say? he has helped me so much since June. I woke up to see his face and learned that he never left me alone while i was in the hospital. I slept for about 6 week and apparently he didn't sleep for about 6 weeks...not very much anyway. He has held me as i cried when i felt like a fish flopping on my bed!!, held me as we laughed together and made jokes about my cute shorter legs. He has held my hand when i could not lift my head and he has learned to put my earrings in because my hands won't let me. He has wiped my tears and other things as well, he has just loved me and i am the luckiest woman in the world to have married him. I tease him that he has been with me through baldness and chubbiness and a scared and wrinkly no legged body! Sometimes i feel sorry for him he has been through so much with me, but i guess he can never say i was a boring wife!!!
That's all for now (like that wasn't enough!!) Hugs! Dee
Ok, so this is my first solo post, no one helping me and i want to see if i do it right so hang in with me while i learn. :)
